6 Killed, 5 Injured In Head-On Crash In George West

When a driver fails to obey traffic laws, fatal accidents can occur. Sadly, this was recently the case in George West, when a head-on crash occurred on a Texas highway. Six people were killed in the crash, including a woman from Houston.

Three vehicles were involved in the fatal accident, which occurred on the evening of December 30. The crash occurred when a minivan attempted to overtake a vehicle in a no passing zone on U.S. Highway 59. The minivan collided head-on with an SUV coming in the other direction. The SUV was then rear-ended by a sedan. The vehicle that the driver was passing was not hit in the crash.

In total, six people were killed in the accident. The driver of the minivan, a 39-year-old woman from Houston, as well as a child passenger, both died at the accident scene. The driver of the SUV, a 47-year-old man, and two passengers, ages 58 and 74, were killed in the crash. All three were from Ganado. An occupant of the sedan was also killed.

Five others were injured. They were hospitalized with “non-incapacitating injuries.” Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the accident. The crash is still under investigation.

No Passing Zones

If there’s a dotted line on your side of the lane and a solid line on the other side, that means you can pass when safe, but drivers on the other side cannot. If there’s a solid line on your side of the lane and a dotted line on the other, you cannot pass, but drivers on the other side can. If there’s just one dotted line between two lanes, drivers in either lane can pass when safe.
